Adverse drug event explorer
Find unusual side-effect signals for medicines from public safety reports.
The brief
A pharmacovigilance team must spot new side effects early. Using public adverse-event reports, build an explorer that shows the most reported reactions for a medicine and flags reactions reported more often than expected. Good looks like: correct disproportionality scores, a searchable explorer, and a clear explanation of what the signals do and do not prove.
What you will build
- Download adverse-event reports for a group of medicines
- Clean drug names and reactions
- Compute disproportionality (PRR or ROR)
- Build a searchable explorer
- Write up limits of spontaneous reports
