The brief

Compliance teams search hundreds of RBI circulars and master directions to answer one question, and a wrong answer is costly. Build an assistant that answers from the official documents only, cites the circular number and paragraph, and says when the documents do not answer. Good looks like: a clean document pipeline, retrieval compared on 50+ test questions, a citation on every answer, and refusals when unsure.

What you will build

1. Collect master directions and circulars with their numbers and dates
2. Parse and chunk them by paragraph, keeping metadata
3. Build vector and hybrid retrieval with re-ranking
4. Write 50+ test questions with the correct paragraph
5. Evaluate faithfulness and retrieval recall; handle superseded circulars
6. Deploy the assistant with citations and an "I don't know" path
