Downtime and failure analysis in SQL
Find the machines, components and causes losing the most production time.
The brief
Maintenance and production teams argue about why lines stop. Load the error, maintenance and failure records into a database and answer with data: which machines fail most, which components cause the longest stops, and whether planned maintenance prevents failures. Good looks like: reconciled SQL queries, a Pareto chart of downtime causes and three recommendations.
What you will build
- Load machines, errors, maintenance and failures into a database
- Join them into a downtime timeline per machine
- Rank causes with a Pareto analysis
- Test whether recent maintenance reduces failures
- Present findings to a plant manager
