Hospital pharmacy stock, expiry and reorder planner

Cut waste from expired medicines and stock-outs of critical ones with a reorder and first-expiry-first-out planner.

The brief

A hospital pharmacy throws away expired stock and still runs out of critical medicines. Build a planner that tracks batches with expiry dates, uses first-expiry-first-out, flags stock expiring in 90 days, and suggests reorder levels from usage so critical items never run out. Good looks like: a clear list of what to use first, a reorder rule for each item and an estimate of the waste avoided.

What you will build

  1. Create a stock register with batches and expiry dates
  2. Estimate usage per item from past issues
  3. Set reorder levels with ABC and VED analysis
  4. Flag near-expiry batches and suggest transfers
  5. Simulate six months with and without the planner
  6. Report waste avoided and stock-outs prevented
