Prescription reader with safety checks

Turn photos of prescriptions into structured medicine orders and check dose and allergy safety, with a pharmacist approving.

The brief

Handwritten prescriptions cause dispensing errors. Build a system that reads a prescription image, extracts medicine, strength, dose and duration into structured data, checks them against dose limits and the patient's allergies, and passes anything unclear to a pharmacist for approval. Good looks like: accuracy measured on 100 sample prescriptions, flags for doubtful readings, and no automatic dispensing without a human.

What you will build

  1. Create 100 realistic sample prescriptions
  2. Read the text with OCR and a vision model
  3. Extract medicine, strength, dose and duration as JSON
  4. Check against dose limits and allergies
  5. Route doubtful items to a pharmacist
  6. Measure accuracy and the share sent for review
