Kubernetes platform with autoscaling and rollouts

Deploy a web service on Kubernetes with autoscaling, safe rollouts and monitoring, and test it under load.

The brief

Production services must survive traffic spikes and bad releases. Deploy a small web service on Kubernetes, add autoscaling, a canary or rolling release with automatic rollback, and monitoring, then test it with load and a deliberately broken release. Good looks like: a pipeline that deploys on every merge, a load test showing scale-out, a broken release rolled back automatically, and a short runbook.

What you will build

  1. Containerise a small web service
  2. Deploy it to a local cluster
  3. Add horizontal autoscaling
  4. Set up a CI pipeline and a canary release
  5. Add Prometheus metrics and Grafana dashboards
  6. Run a load test and a bad release test
