Shift log extractor

Turn free-text shift logs into structured downtime records with causes and durations.

The brief

Supervisors write shift logs in their own words, so downtime is never counted properly. Build an extractor that turns each log entry into a structured record (machine, start, end, cause category, action taken), validates it, and measures accuracy. Good looks like: a schema, validation of times and machines, and accuracy per field on 50 labelled entries.

What you will build

  1. Write 50 realistic shift log entries from the maintenance data
  2. Define the downtime record schema
  3. Extract with structured outputs and validate
  4. Measure accuracy per field
  5. Summarise downtime by cause from the extracted records
