PLC bottle filling line with a SCADA screen

Program a PLC in ladder logic for a filling line and build an operator screen with alarms.

The brief

Most factory lines run on PLCs and are watched on SCADA screens. Program a bottle filling and capping line in ladder logic on a free PLC runtime and simulator, add start, stop, emergency stop and fault handling, and build an operator screen with counts, status and alarms. Good looks like: a safe stop in every state, a tested sequence with fault cases, and an operator screen a technician understands without help.

What you will build

  1. Write the process sequence and I/O list
  2. Program the ladder logic in OpenPLC
  3. Add emergency stop, jam and low-level faults
  4. Simulate the line and test each fault
  5. Build the SCADA or HMI screen with alarms
  6. Document the logic and test results
