Meter reading extractor
Read photographed meters and bills into structured readings, and flag readings that look wrong.
The brief
Meter readers photograph meters, and staff type the numbers in later. Build a tool that reads the meter number and reading from a photo, validates it against the previous reading, and flags anything that looks wrong. Good looks like: accuracy on 50 labelled photos, sensible validation rules, and a review list of doubtful readings.
What you will build
- Collect or photograph sample meters
- Read digits with a vision-capable LLM or OCR
- Validate against previous readings and usage patterns
- Measure accuracy on labelled photos
- Flag doubtful readings for review
