Digital twin of a conveyor line

Build a simulated conveyor with live sensor data and use the twin to test a change before it is made on the line.

The brief

Before changing a line's speed or layout, a plant wants to try it without stopping production. Build a simple digital twin of a conveyor and packing station that mirrors sensor data, predicts throughput and blockages, and lets an engineer test a change in the model first. Good looks like: a model checked against logged data, a clear what-if result, and the limits of the twin stated plainly.

What you will build

  1. Choose the line and the signals to mirror
  2. Build a discrete-event model in Python (SimPy)
  3. Calibrate it against logged data
  4. Run what-if tests such as faster speed or a slower packer
  5. Compare the twin with the real or simulated line
  6. Present the findings and limits
