Edge-to-cloud data pipeline for a production line
Collect machine data over OPC UA and MQTT, store it as time series and show live line status.
The brief
A smart factory starts with getting machine data out of the machines. Build a pipeline that reads signals from an OPC UA server (a simulator is fine), publishes them over MQTT, stores them in a time-series database, and shows live status and history for each machine. Good looks like: data with timestamps and quality flags, no loss when the network drops, and a dashboard a supervisor can read in seconds.
What you will build
- Run an OPC UA simulator with a few machines
- Read the signals and publish them over MQTT
- Store them in a time-series database
- Buffer data when the connection drops
- Build live and historical dashboards
- Measure delay from machine to screen
