Shaft design checker with fatigue and deflection

Write a tool that sizes a shaft for strength, fatigue and deflection and shows how safe it is.

The brief

Shaft design is a chain of hand calculations that engineers repeat for every project and sometimes get wrong. Build a Python tool that takes loads, speed and material, checks static strength, fatigue life and deflection, and reports the safety factor with each step shown. Good looks like: results that match a textbook worked example, clear units, and a plot of how the safety factor changes with diameter.

What you will build

  1. List the design equations from a standard text
  2. Code static strength, fatigue and deflection checks
  3. Verify against a worked textbook example
  4. Plot safety factor against diameter and material
  5. Add a bearing-life check
  6. Write a one-page design report
