Pick-and-place robot in simulation with ROS 2
Program a simulated robot arm to find objects with a camera, pick them and place them in bins.
The brief
Warehouses and assembly lines use arms to move parts, and the hard part is software, not the arm. In a Gazebo simulation, build a ROS 2 system where a camera finds coloured objects, a planner moves the arm to pick them, and they are placed in the right bin, with failures handled. Good looks like: a success rate over 50 runs, safe handling of a missed grasp, and a clear node diagram of the system.
What you will build
- Set up ROS 2 and a simulated arm with a camera
- Detect objects and their positions
- Plan arm motion with MoveIt
- Pick, place and sort into bins
- Handle a missed grasp and unreachable objects
- Measure success over 50 runs
